How to open a bank account in France ?

Your choice of bank card:
Bleue Visa, Visa Premier, Gold MasterCard or Visa Infinite(3).

Free everyday banking:
domestic and permanent transfers, replacement cards, stopping cheques, unlimited number of cash withdrawals from all ATMs in France and the eurozone, etc.

Flexible cash services, with an overdraft of up to €3,000 (4), and interest charges waived for up to € 12/quarter

HSBC Volassur(5) : insurance against the loss or theft of your means of payment

HSBC Alertes: a package including 25 text message or email alerts per month to help you keep track of your transactions or your account balance.

(3) The Visa Infinite cannot be applied for over the phone through our HSBC Customer Relations team or via the internet. Customers can apply through their local branch, subject to the Bank's approval.
(4) Subject to approval. The cash advance can be used for a maximum of 15 consecutive or non-consecutive days per month. For example, for an overdraft of €1,500 per day for 15 days: total cost €9.75 including the fees payable on the highest overdraft calculated at 0.05%, at an interest rate equal to the basic HSBC interest rate + 7%, i.e. 14.40% at 01/01/2010. Annual APR: 17.13%, or a daily APR of 0.0433%.
(5) Subject to the limits set out in the information leaflet. Insurance policy taken out with HSBC Assurances IARD, a company governed by the French Insurance Code.
(6) In accordance with current regulations, individuals domiciled in France for tax purposes must declare any accounts opened, used or closed abroad in their income tax return. Anyone not meeting these obligations is liable to pay a fine and back taxes.
(7) The HSBC Passeport option cannot be applied for over the phone through our HSBC Customer Relations team or via the internet. Customers can apply through their local branch, subject to the Bank's approval.
