Already an owner and want to sell your existing home to purchase a new one? The ideal solution is of course to coincide sale with purchase. In practise, however, selling property often takes longer than expected. The Prêt Relais is the ideal answer to ensuring you don’t miss out when it comes to buying your dream home(1).
The principle couldn't be simpler. You want to put up the value of your existing property against the purchase of your new home. As your money is still tied up, HSBC will advance you part of the value of your property in the form of a Prêt Relais, minus any outstanding credit.
The capital that you borrow with this bridging loan is repaid in a lump sum once you have sold your existing property. Until then, all you pay is the interest and insurance premiums.
The Prêt Relais from HSBC is granted for a maximum period of one year(2).
Contact an estate agency or notary for a reliable and objective valuation of your existing property.
