How to open a bank account in France ?

The PIA Automatic Investment Plan ("Plan d'Investissement Automatique") allows you to:

  • make regular and scheduled investments in a selection of HSBC France's mutual funds;
  • diversify your investments;
  • smooth out the average purchase price of HSBC France mutual funds;
  • lighten the day-to-day management of your investments;
  • benefit from advantageous upfront fees.

Depending on the types of investment you hold and your investment needs, you can open a PIA as part of a Securities Account and/or a PEA account.

You can manage your PIA with full independence from your secure HSBC Invest client area.
It is possible at any time to:

  • change the amount and frequency of payments;
  • change your mutual fund selection free of charge;
  • open other PIAs.

Good to knowThe PIA is not subject to any time commitment. However, it is important to respect the recommended investment period for the mutual funds selected.

 

Setting up and activating your first PIA account

Stage 1:
Select the Securities Account or PEA in which you want to set up your PIA
State the amount you want to invest each period (monthly or quarterly)

Stage 2:
Divide the amount to be invested each period among your selection of mutual funds from the list given
Select monthly or quarterly investment
Select the day on which orders are to be sent: the 1st, 5th, 10th, 15th, 20th or 25th of the month (if this is not a business day, the order will be placed the next business day)
Name your PIA

RememberBefore investing in any mutual funds, you should read the summary prospectus approved by the AMF (Autorité des Marchés Financiers).

 

Stage 3: Confirm the characteristics of your PIA

Activate your first PIA

Stage 4:
Send us a copy of your subscription form, signed and dated, in an unstamped enveloped to the freepost address stated on the document entitled "Opening your Automatic Investment Plan"
Keep the second copy (the subscription form contains all of the characteristics of your PIA)
To print it out later, you can save your contract or return to it at any time in the "View/Manage by plans" section ("Consulter / Gérer mes plans").

Subscription and eligibility conditions
The PIA can be accessed as soon as you hold or open:
   - a Securities Account
   - and/or a PEA

Good to know Worth knowing: If you link your PIA to your PEA, it is your responsibility to ensure that the amount paid into your PEA does not exceed to authorised threshold of €132,000.

 

You must invest a minimum of €75 per mutual fund and per period (including upfront fees).

How to invest

Investments are debited from the cash account linked to the investment account (Securities Account or PEA) from which your PIA was created.

RememberSufficient funds must be available to place orders in the account linked to the PIA in order for orders to be executed.

 

Managing your PIA

Using the HSBC Invest secure area, you may at any time:

  • view information about your PIA (next due date, number of payments made, total amount invested, net asset value
    of mutual funds etc.)
  • change any aspects of your PIA (investment amount and frequency, mutual funds selection etc.)
  • temporarily suspend investments for a period of 1 to 6 months
  • reactivate your PIA
  • close your PIA
  • open other PIAs.

You will receive your usual statements:

  • a statement of your portfolio position at the end of December
  • a transaction statement after each subscription or purchase transaction.

Good to knowYou can view the mutual funds held in your portfolio (Securities portfolio or PEA) within the framework
of your PIA easily using the  symbol.

  • Opening: free
  • Subscriptions: free
  • Change, suspend or close account: free

Fees relating to mutual funds eligible for the PIA :

  • Management fees: refer to the prospectus for each mutual fund
  • Applicable fees as at 21/07/2010

Closing your account

When you close your PIA account, periodical investments are stopped but the units in mutual funds held within
the framework of the PIA are not redeemed.
