Optimize security within your Elys PC customer area by taking care to protect
your computer and your personal access.

Neither HSBC France nor any other banking institution will ever ask you
for your username or your Remote Banking PIN over the phone or in an e-mail.

Your log in to Elys PC with your Digipass

When you open an HSBC France account (1), we will send you your Digipass, username and PIN by mail. Digipass is a highly secure authentication system protected by a customizable PIN, based on a technology that generates single-use codes with a limited period of validity. Digipass provides full security for access to your online accounts on Elys PC.

Your username and PIN allow you to access Digipass registration in Elys PC.
You will then be asked:

  1. to define a memorable question and answer (you will need to enter
    the memorable answer each time you log in).
  2. to register the serial number of your Digipass in Elys PC. Each time you
    log in HSBC France can then check the validity of your username, memorable answer and single-use codes generated by your Digipass. The combination of these three pieces of information gives you access to view and manage your accounts securely according to your level of authorisation.

A limited number of failed login attempts

For added security, the number of login attempts is recorded. After a certain number of failed attempts, access to your account is locked. To reactivate your remote banking access, you must contact your branch or the Customer Relations Centre on 0 810 83 84 85* (service 0,05 € / min + connection fee).

Securing your sensitive transactions in your customer area

For additional security when you carry out sensitive operations on Elys PC,
such as adding new domestic and international bank details online,
they must be validated by entering a single-use code generated
by the Digipass belonging to the user authorized to perform these operations.

Encryption of your information

The public site and the Elys PC secure website are secured using SSL (Secure Socket Layer) protocols to encrypt the data.

HSBC France is therefore EVSSL (Extended Validation Secure Socket Layer) certified which allows us to offer greater online security and help our customers to fight phishing and pharming.

It's easy to tell if a site is protected by an EVSSL certificate:

  1. "https" appears in the address
  2. There's a padlock displayed next to the address bar
  3. The address bar turns green

The principle behind SSL encryption:
- The browser connects to a secure site, a unique encryption key is then put into place for the duration of the transaction between the server and the browser.
- The browser sends the encrypted data to the server, which alone is able
to decipher the data received thanks to the use of a unique encryption key.
- The server sends a notice of safe receipt of the data that validates the identity
of the user.

Protect your PIN

- Your username, your Digipass and your memorable question and answer
are the key to accessing your Remote Banking services. You can only access
your accounts by using these all together: Be vigilant!

- Regularly change your memorable question and answer in the
"Practical services < Change your question/answer" section.

- Memorize your PIN and never disclose it to anyone.

- Make sure no one is watching you when you log in. You will need your PIN
when you renew your Digipass. Feel free to change it in the "Practical services < Change your PIN" section.

Log in to your customer area regularly

Your "Elys PC" customer area allows you to check the debits and credits
on your accounts at your convenience. Regular access means you can spot
any fraudulent transactions.

Log out securely

Always remember to close your session when you have finished browsing
your accounts or carrying out transactions. To do this click on the Logout link
on the navigation bar to the left of your Elys PC screen.

Install anti-virus software and a firewall on your computer

To protect access to your computer it is crucial to install anti-virus software
and a firewall. Don't forget to update them regularly as required.
